The Second Attack

This is the second attack reported in less than a month on the monument of Karl Marx. The memorial in the Highgate cemetery has already been vandalized in the past. However, on this occasion, the attackers painted messages in red by Marx’s bust:

“Architect of genocide: terror + oppression, mass murder”

“Doctrine of hate”

“Memorial to Bolshevik genocide (1917-1953): 66,000,000 dead”

“Ideology of starving”

Response from Highgate Cemetery

Highgate Cemetery posted the following message on its Twitter account:

“Vandals back at Marx Memorial, Highgate Cemetery. Red paint this time, plus the marble tablet smashed up. Senseless. Stupid. Ignorant. Whatever you think about Marx’s legacy, this is not the way to make the point.”

The reactions of condemnation have spread through social networks and the media, before what is a desperate attack of twisted mentalities.

The Work of Karl Marx

The work of Karl Marx has never stopped being in the spotlight. It has been a controversial work, but one of seriousness and scientific argumentation. Undoubtedly the hordes that face critical thinking and truth have attacked this time from ignorance and stupidity.

Karl Marx is well-known for his works The Communist Manifesto, Capital and many others which outlines a scientific critique of capital and the capitalist system. Among the fundamental concepts of his work, we can mention the idea of fetishism, alienation, working class, the surplus value, and others that are linked to compose a theoretical system that has managed to unmask the bases of the current system of domination.
